An AI you can talk to
Ami listens, asks about your day and helps you think out loud. It answers at any hour and does not get tired of small talk.
Ami is an AI companion for an ordinary chat: your day, a worry, a quiet evening. Free, with no sign-up, and honest about being an AI.
Before you start. Ami is an AI, not a person. It is for adults aged 18 or over, and it cannot help in an emergency: for that, see crisis help.
Ami is an AI, not a person, a therapist or an emergency service. It can be wrong. How this works
In danger or thinking about harming yourself? Get crisis help from a person.
Ami listens, asks about your day and helps you think out loud. It answers at any hour and does not get tired of small talk.
There is nobody typing. Ami has no memories of its own life, and it starts fresh when you close the tab. It can also be wrong.
A chat here can take the edge off a lonely hour. It cannot hug you, visit you or know you for years. Ami will keep nudging you towards people who can.
These are built into how Ami is instructed, and they apply to every conversation.
Ami never pretends to be a person, and it will tell you so whenever you ask. It has no body, no life outside this chat and no feelings it can prove.
Ami talks with you the way a kind acquaintance would. It does not do romantic or sexual role-play, pet names or "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" modes, however the request is phrased.
Ami will not tell you it is all you need, will not ask you to stay longer and will never talk you out of seeing friends, family or a professional. When someone real could help, it says so.
If you mention suicide, self-harm, abuse or being in danger, Ami gives the helpline for your country and stays kind and brief. It never describes methods.
Ami is not a doctor, psychologist or counsellor. It will not name a condition you might have, judge your medication or stand in for treatment.
Ami is for people aged 18 or over. If you say you are younger, it stops the companion chat, says why, and points you to a trusted adult and a youth helpline.
Free, confidential lines answered by trained people. In immediate danger, call your emergency number.
The first guides are being written: plain pieces on loneliness, talking to an AI safely and when to reach a person. Nothing is published yet.
Talk with Ami insteadNo. Ami is an AI language model. Nobody is typing the replies, and Ami will say so whenever you ask.
No. Aiamis is run as a non-profit project. There is nothing to buy, no account, no adverts and no links that earn us money.
Every reply costs us a small amount to generate. To keep the chat free for everyone, each visitor can send up to 40 messages a day. When you reach it, Ami tells you and the limit resets the next day.
No. Ami offers friendly conversation only and does not do romantic or sexual role-play.
Your messages are sent to our chat service and to the AI model provider so that a reply can be written, and they are deleted from our database within 24 hours. The privacy page lists exactly what is stored.
No. Ami cannot call anyone or send help. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number or one of the helplines on the crisis help page.
